Haifa SALLEM, professor of Materials technologies, holds an Msc in mechanical engineering from National Engineering school of Monastir (ENIM) and a PhD from Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne (ENSME). During her PhD (2014) at Tribology and System Dynamics lab (UMR-CNRS), she has developed, in collaboration with Constellium and Åkers companies, a methodology to optimize the grindability of a new generation of HSS rolls in a non-coated form using CBN abrasive. After her thesis, she has worked 3 years as an assistant professor at Engineering school ENISE of St-Etienne. She was in charge of conducting R&D project on the simulation of integrity and controllability of welded assemblies, besides teaching in the department of mechanical engineering (material behavior, continuum mechanics, applied mathematics, FE Modeling of material behavior). Before joining HES-SO Valais-Wallis, she held for 3 years the position of R&D engineer at ESI Group, where she managed R&D projects on the control by modeling and simulation of manufacturing processes for aerospace industry.
Since November 2019, she is professor and member of the Systems Engineering Institute - Design & Materials unit in HES-SO Valais-Wallis. She conducts projects within the Ra&D group of Powder Technologies and Advanced Materials.
