ENTER 2019 Conference in eTourism: Participation of researchers from the HES-SO Valais-Wallis

The HES-SO Valais-Wallis, through the Tourism and Information Systems institutes of its School of Management, showcased its skills in eTourism at the ENTER 2019 conference held from 30 January to 1 February in Nicosia. This international conference, organized by the International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism (IFITT), aimed to promote discussion, exchange and knowledge development on the use and impact of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the tourism economy.
Davide Calvaresi, postdoctoral research assistant at the Institute of Information Systems, presented an overview of the use of blockchain in tourism in his contribution entitled Trust in Tourism via Blockchain Technology: Results from a Systematic Review.
Miriam Scaglione and Roland Schegg, HES-SO professors and researchers at the Institute of Tourism, presented An Analysis of Regional Developments of Airbnb in Switzerland: Insights into Growth Patterns of a P2P Platform, an analysis on the evolution of Airbnb in Switzerland addressing in particular the problems of the professionalization of its hosts and the competition between Airbnb and hotels.
