Living in Sierre

Sierre is a small town with a population of 15,000, situated on the French-German border of the Valais canton in the heart of the Alps. It is just 20 minutes from the most famous winter destinations of Switzerland and ideally situated for skiing, hiking or mountain biking. In summer, the Géronde Lake is a popular destination.

Sierre is considered one of the least expensive cities of Switzerland - a plus for your budget! Shared accommodation costs around CHF 300.00 per month. Addresses for studios, apartments or rooms can be found on the school notice board.

Distances

Sierre is centrally located and only 7 minutes from Sion, 20 minutes from Visp and, thanks to the new Lötschberg base tunnel, only 80 minutes from Berne. The school is located just two minutes walking distance from the train station.

Activities

The tourist region of Sierre is located in the heart of the Valais, only a stone's throw from the Val d'Anniviers, Zermatt and Verbier. The region around Sierre offers a vast choice of sports: hiking, skiing, paragliding, biking... ;

Student's association

All year round, the EST–STF club organises events, parties and excursions for the students of the degree course Tourism. The students' association of the HES-SO Valais defends the interests of its members and organises activities for the students of the different degrees.

The cost of studies at the HES-SO Valais is CHF 1,550.00 per year (subject to change without notice).
