Semi-autonomous DC-microgrid for industrial sites

The aim of the project is to demonstrate the technical and economic advantages of an industrial scale microgrid based on a DC-bus power link integrating photovoltaic production, storage, and consumers. Meteorological and consumption forecasts allow smoothing the power profile (daily and seasonally) for high PV penetration beyond 50% of total consumed energy. One fully equipped microgrid demonstrator will be set up, integrating PV production, battery storage, consumers, including variable frequency motor drives and electrolysis for power to gas. The locally regulated microgrid allows power and energy management within a precision of 1% of the 48h forecast whereas the 700V DC-link improves energy transfer efficiency inside the microgrid due to reduction of redundant DC/AC conversions.
